Icelandic Sheep
Icelandic sheep are very friendly
They have a double coated fleece, which is ideally suited to extremely cold or windy conditions. This consists of an outer layer of long courser fibers and an inner layer of extremely soft fleece.
These sheep can be horned or polled (without horns). When they are born most of our Icelandic lambs have a trace of horn buds even if they are polled.
These sheep are a good size, with ewes weighing about 50kg. They have good, relatively fast growing lambs. The lambs are quick to get up and suck and are very vigorous.
Whilst the ewes are not very biddable at lambing time we find them to be very milky with plenty of milk for twins.
