Nesting Material for Wild Birds

A great way to help your garden birds at nesting time. 20g of natural British Sheep wool.

About the nesting material

Our wild bird nesting material is made from 100% British sheep wool that is collected from our own flock of native and rare breed British sheep. The wool is thick and warm and has fantastic insulating properties.

Why offer nesting material to your garden birds?

Building nests is very labour intensive for wild garden birds and the wool you offer them will help them to insulate their nest and protect their eggs and young.

Which birds will benefit from the nesting material

This wool is suitable for any nesting bird in your garden. It helps the birds to insulated their nests and is ideal to offer around nesting time.

How to use the nesting material wool

Fill any bird suet block holder with the wool supplied and hang it at least 1.5m (5 foot) from the ground and ideally away from trees or bushes for protection. Please note the holder is not included.

If you don't already offer nesting boxes, please consider our nesting box kit.

Thank you so much for supporting our Family Farm. Your order helps us to care for these very special sheep.

The look and smell:

When you unpack your fleece you will notice an slight sheepy smell that comes from the year round grass pasture they feed on and the natural lanolin in the fleece.
The fleece colour will be creamy white, brown, black or grey - as it has come from a rare breed sheep - these come in a range of wonderful colours.

The shearing:

All shearing is done by hand by a professional shearer on our own family farm, as this minimises the stress to the sheep. It is very important to shear sheep to prevent illness.

Pictures show an example fleece. This is not necessarily the one you will receive.

The funny thing about Moorit Sheep

The funny thing about Moorit (brown) sheep is that on our farm, at least they stick together in a group. Even if they are in a larger flock of sheep, when you need to move them or there is any danger, the Moorits will always be together.
